Rivers put on flood watch

FLOOD watches were in force on seven rivers in Oxfordshire today after heavy rain.

Stretches of the River Thames were placed on alert from Cirencester to Lechlade; St John's Lock, Lechlade to Eynsham Lock, Eynsham; Eynsham Lock, Eynsham to Sandford Lock, Sandford-on-Thames; Sandford Lock, Sandford-on-Thames to Day's Lock, Little Wittenham; Day's Lock, Little Wittenham to Whitchurch Lock, near Pangbourne.

Other areas under flood watch included the catchment areas of the River Cherwell; River Evenlode; River Ock: River Ray, River Thame and River Windrush.
