WOMEN firefighters from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service are taking part in the filming of a DVD in a bid to encourage schoolchildren across the UK to join the profession.
The international charity, Christian Aid, will be at Rewley Road Fire Station, in Oxford, next week to film an all-woman firefighter drill.
The DVD, called Get Real, will be shown to 11- to 14-year-olds at schools in the UK and Ireland, and looks at gender inequality and how women's rights are respected.
John Parry, the county's Chief Fire Officer and Oxfordshire County Council's director for community safety, said: "I'm pleased that our women firefighters are taking part in this educational film for schoolchildren.
"I hope that it will encourage more children to think about the fire service as a career."
