'Wheels day' work starts

PREPARATIONS are under way for Carterton's fourth 'Extreme Wheels' day.

The event brings together skateboarders and bicycle riders to show off their stunt skills, along with live music and sideshows.

No firm date has yet been decided, but it will be held in the summer, at The Dell, off Upavon Way.

More than 30 people who want to be involved in organising the event turned up for the first planning meeting at the town hall.

Another is scheduled at the same venue for the evening of Sunday, February 27.

Adrian Coomber, principal organiser, said they have secured £2,000 for this year, twice as much money than previously, to make it a better day out.
