On Saturday, about 300 people were at The Dell Skate Park in Upavon Way, Carterton, for the Extreme Wheels day.

They watched as about 65 young people, between the ages of 10 and 25, showed off their skills on skateboards, BMX bikes and in-line skates on a 40ft stage.

The best of the skaters and bikers were presented with prizes of vouchers, T-shirts and BMX helmets.

There was entertainment for all the family with a bouncy castle and a bungee run.

And in the evening four live bands - headlined by Phoenix Child - performed in the park.

The event has run since 2005, when young skaters and bikers decided they wanted an outdoor event with live music.

It was organised by the young people who use the skate park and co-ordinated by Ady Coomber.

Mr Coomber said: "People who have never been to the park before have turned up. It's really just an open day for everybody."
