A HEADTEACHER at an Oxford primary school has claimed she is getting “fobbed off” by Oxfordshire County Council over questions about delayed construction work at the school.

The council announced an extension of Headington’s Windmill Primary School last year that would expand their intake to 630 pupils by 2017, making it the largest primary school in the county.

Work was due to start last August but construction of the new multi-use games area has only just begun and a new hall and three-classroom extension will not begin until the spring.

In an open letter to county councillor Nick Carter, headteacher Lynn Knapp said: “Despite asking for updates we get fobbed off with vague answers if we are lucky enough to get any response at all.”

County council spokesman Owen Morten said work on three new classrooms a hall was set to start in the spring and due to be completed in August.
