Sir – It was surprising to see Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron get himself into such a flap in recent weeks over the amount of money we owe the European Union.

It’s a pity that Mr Cameron has such a poor working relationship with our European partners that he can’t negotiate a decent settlement for Britain.

I wonder now if he regrets wasting £100m on Police and Crime Commissioner elections that no one wanted and hardly anyone voted in.

He has also wasted millions on badger culls which have failed to meet any of their strategic objectives and have done nothing to eradicate bovine TB in cattle.

He has also wasted millions on a pointless reorganisation of the NHS, which he promised he would never do, and which has done nothing to improve patient care.

Indeed, it has got considerably worse in the past four years.

Perhaps if he hadn’t wasted so much of our money, then he would be able to pay our bills.
