  • "I also think that a change is long overdue, but knowing the local electorate,as I do, I very much doubt that it will happen. Witney had a chance to change the political balance of the town council last year but threw away the opportunity. So come on ,every non tory voter, wake up and go to vote, its no good complaining afterwards"

Increase was a disgrace

Sir – I note with disdain and incredulity, that the town council’s portion of the new council tax has increased by more than five per cent.

Could this possibly have anything to do with the fiasco of the failed appeal of the Madley Park Hall court case?

If so, why do these councillors feel the public should fund their mistakes? And what safeguards have been put in place to ensure that this is never repeated?

It appears that a few councillors have lost sight of their accountability to council tax payers by ploughing ahead with their own agenda regardless of the cost and outcome.

I hope the electorate shows its disgust at this behaviour at the forthcoming elections.
