Sir – I would like urgently to appeal to any of your readers affected by prostate cancer to take part in an important survey launched by the Prostate Cancer Charity.

As someone who has been directly affected by the disease, I know that choosing which treatment to have can be a minefield for men with prostate cancer. There are still huge variations in the level of care.

For this reason the charity has compiled a draft set of standards to ensure that men get the treatment and care they deserve wherever they are. They need to hear the views of as many people as possible with experience of the disease, to ensure they reflect what men with prostate cancer need.
