Sir – Even though I hope that those who were promised compensation for the problems at Equitable Life get that compensation, I would also like to ask David Cameron what he was going to do about compensating others who have lost out because of Government mishandling.

This includes honouring the Forces Charter and compensating all the former member of the forces who, because of not serving a full 22 years, are denied a pension.

I did 14 years’ service and got nothing. Yet throughout those years was not able to add to a company pension for my retirement.

By the time they make a decision everyone will be dead. At the same time, however, we have civil servants complaining about having a cut in their gold-plated pensions.

It sometimes makes me sick to think I served this country for nothing, while those who have never worked a real day in their lives will end up getting a pension.
