HANS Christian Andersen’s classic fairytale The Snow Queen is brought to life on stage at Ramsden Memorial Hall on Friday.
The Danish author’s story has been adapted for the stage by the Gloucester-based Rain or Shine Theatre Company.
The Snow Queen tells the story of Kai and Gerda, who do everything together and are inseparable.
Kai’s grandmother tells them of the legend of the Snow Queen, and a mirror made by an evil troll, or ‘devil’ that won’t reflect the good and beautiful in people, but magnifies all the bad and ugly aspects.
One cold night Kai falls under the spell of the evil Snow Queen and is whisked away on her sleigh to an icy palace at the North Pole.
Can Gerda save Kai from the Snow Queen and will she survive the epic journey across rivers, forests and snow to reach him in time?
A five-strong cast play a whole host of characters.
The performance in Ramsden is a supper show, starting at 7.30pm. To book tickets, priced £15 including food, call Ian Walton on 01993 868222.
