THE fight to secure votes for women is brought back to life at The Theatre in Chipping Norton tonight.
Emily – The Making of a Militant Suffragette focuses on the story of Emily Wilding Davidson, who died under the galloping hooves of King George V’s horse in the Derby in 1913.
Set in the context of the struggle for women to have the vote in the early years of the 20th century, the play resonates with questions that still challenge us: repression of public protest, democracy, militancy, torture, women’s rights and self-sacrifice.
The play starts at 7.45pm, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Tickets are £14 and £12 for concessions. To book, call 01608 642350.
