BURFORD Singers will perform JS Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion on Good Friday at the town’s St John’s Church.
Brian Kay will conduct Baroque ensemble Canzona and six soloists, accompanied by the Cotswold Youth Choirs.
The sell-out concert is Burford Singers’ biggest performance of the year and has been 18 months in preparation.
There are 110 amateur singers in the choir and a 300-strong audience is expected.
Vice-chairman Ruth Dipple said: “It’s something we’ve been anticipating for a long time but it’s a once-a-decade performance, because it’s such a big production to put on. It’s about the crucifixion of Jesus, so it’s appropriate to be set in a church.”
The performance will start at 7pm.
