CHIPPING Norton Theatre is starting its 40th birthday celebrations this weekend.

The theatre is throwing open its doors on Saturday with a treasure hunt and tea.

It gives all visitors a look behind the scenes and is hosted by performance group the Scary Little Girls.

The afternoon takes the form of a treasure hunt with a twist.

Expect performances in unexpected places, lights and sound in action, the work of JK Rowling and AA Milne in the attic and surprises galore.

The treasure hunt takes place between 11am to 12.30pm and then 1pm to 2pm. It is suitable for ages seven and up and tickets are £5.

In the evening, guests are being invited to put on their platforms and flares for a 70s party night and disco.

The theatre’s chairs in the stalls will be removed to create the perfect dance floor for the acclaimed soul and disco band Lovetrain.

Party goers are encouraged to dress for the party – flares, minis and white suits. There will be a prize for the best-dressed party goer.

Let your hair down from 8pm. Tickets cost £25.
