VISITORS to the West Ox Arts Gallery in Bampton are being asked to look beyond the works at the Moments exhibition of drawing and sculpture.

The exhibition, which runs until October 19, features large minimalist drawings by Miriam Taylor and sculptures made from logs by Dick Budden.

Curator Flavia Dent said: “It’s fun because a lot of the sculptures have voids and so on in them which you can look through and see other works.

“It is an ordered show, but it is pretty playful as well.

“If you look through the sculptures they frame other pieces and give them a different perspective.”

Co-curator Therese Penny said: “Miriam’s drawings vary from very controlled-looking small squares on large sheets, to wild-looking explorations of texture.

“Whilst they are beautifully elegant, almost minimalist against the light-filled white walls of the gallery, Dick Budden’s sculptures give a wonderful counterpoint.

“Quite large, in wood or cast in bronze, the wonderfully tactile sculptures show a journey of exploration that he explains as a balancing act between the carver and the wood.”

Moments is open at the West Ox Arts Gallery, at the Town Hall, Market Sqare, Bampton, from 10.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays and 2pm to 4pm on Sundays.

Admission is free.
