Actress Priyanka Chopra has praised newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan for organising a ceremony which stood for “change and hope”.

The Bollywood star, a close friend of Meghan’s, was one of a number of celebrities at the wedding in Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel on Saturday.

Oprah Winfrey, Idris Elba, David and Victoria Beckham and Sir Elton John were also among the 600 attendees, with all paying tribute to the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Martin Luther King was quoted at the ceremony which also included a gospel choir.

Addressing her friend, Chopra wrote on Instagram: “Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still … that happened today … You my friend … were the epitome of grace, love and beauty.”

She added: “Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding but because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope. Both things that the world needs desperately.
