Witney's longest serving shopkeeper, Elvira Delnevo, has died.

She ran the drapers shop at 36 High Street for the past 58 years, but had previously been in business with a children's clothes shop in Bridge Street, after training as an apprentice at the former Cook and Boggis store.

Miss Delnevo, who never disclosed her age, always saying she was 21, was in her 90s. She died yesterday in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, after a sudden illness.
