A 41-YEAR-OLD woman who suffered severe head injuries was involved in what appears to be a “tragic accident”, police said yesterday.
Police officers and paramedics were called to a property in Brown’s Lane, Woodstock, at about 2am on Sunday after the woman was found injured.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident, but has now been released on bail until Friday.
Senior investigating officer Det Chief Insp Mark Johns last night appealed for information about the incident.
He said: “We are still making inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, but at this stage it appears the woman suffered the head injuries as a result of a tragic accident.
“I would still appeal to anyone with information which could assist our inquiry to get in touch.”
Last night police said the woman was in a “stable condition” at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.
