A MUM has appealed for help after a gang of older teenagers broke her 13-year-old son’s nose in an unprovoked assault.

Witney teenager Jake Marques is today due to have his nose reset at the John Radcliffe Hospital after he came under attack in Oxford city centre.

The youngster was with a group of friends when one of them accidently bumped into a girl outside KFC in Cornmarket Street.

He said she was annoyed and called her friends, who attacked him and a friend.

Mum Sara Marques, 40, said: “She called some of her friends to come and sort them out. He was with his friends, who got scared and split up in different directions.

“He was just waiting for the bus on George Street and took a blow to the face.”

Mrs Marques came to the Oxford Mail after seeing three young men featured in our Badvent calendar suspected of attacking a 15-year-old boy in Gloucester Green on Saturday, November 24.

She said: “It’s disgusting that boys of that age are doing these random attacks on young kids.

“At the end of the day it’s a serious physical assault on a child. He hadn’t got into an argument or done anything to provoke them.”

Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope said the force received a report of an assault occasioning actual bodily harm shortly before 5pm on Saturday, December 15.

She said: “It is believed the boy was with a group of friends when one of the group bumped into an unknown woman.

“The victim said she became agitated and said she was calling some friends on her mobile phone.

“The group walked on but moments later, they were approached by three men. One allegedly punched the victim in the face and walked off.”

Police described the attackers as black, aged 17 to 18, and wearing grey and black clothing.

South Central Ambulance spokesman James Keating-Wilkes said paramedics treated the teenager at the scene.
