TRAINS running through Oxford have returned to normal following delays caused by a signaling fault, First Great Western reports.

Services through Oxford were affected from just before 7pm, with delays of up to an hour reported by commuters.

Staff said there was a track circuit failure just north of the station.

The signalling problem was resolved at about 8.30pm, when after more than an hour's delay, the 19.06 service to London Paddington departed from the station.

Delays continued until around 9.30pm.

Trains between Oxofrdshire and London were also disrupted this afternoon by signal problems near Maidenhead.
