A member of the RAF died in a car crash in West Oxfordshire this morning.

The driver of the silver Peugeot 207 was pronounced dead following the smash on the slip road from the westbound A40 to the B4477 at Curbridge.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called at 5.02am. Two others in the vehicle were injured.

A 24-year-old man and a woman were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford but police said on Sunday afternoon that their injuries are not life threatening.

The Ministry of Defence said the dead man was a member of the RAF but could give no further details.

Inspector Sandie Harris of the Thames Valley Police said: “We believe it was a single vehicle accident with no other vehicles involved."

The slip road was closed and re-opened at about 9am.
