Teenager beaten up

An 18-year-old man was beaten in a Witney alleyway by two thugs in an apparently unprovoked attack.

At 9.10pm on Thursday, January 3, the victim was walking through the alleyway between Fettiplace Road and Fieldmere Close when he was approached by the pair.

They repeatedly punched him in the face before running off towards The Rowing Machine pub in Fettiplace Road.

He suffered a bruised and swollen forehead, left eye and cheek.

The attackers are both described as white, 5ft 10in, medium build and were wearing dark coloured hooded tops.

Pc Phillip Wood said the attack appeared unprovoked. Details were not released for a week until police issued an appeal for witnesses.

This alleyway is a nightmare to walk up in the evening, it is pitch black and should be closed off at night if they can't put up appropriate lighting. It isn't the first time this area has been used for a crime to be commited! It is about time something was done about it. But it won't, we all know that and the residents of Fieldmere will be made to put up with the lowlife that use this alley at night!

The great days of the 80's and the early 90's in oxford I was 18 and never heard of a friend being mugged or being done over and there was no PCSOs at that time.

It seem Witney starting to get like oxford now. That's a shame
