Panda tops our snow picture poll

Witney Gazette: Our winner the Snow Panda by Jade Laforest Our winner the Snow Panda by Jade Laforest

THE snow came down and out came our readers’ cameras and mobile phones.

We have been deluged with pictures and such was the quality and variety, we decided to hold a poll of readers online at oxfordmail.co.uk to pick their favourite image.

After a preliminary round, we got down to a final of five pictures, which attracted hundreds of votes.

It was fiercely competitive and we are happy to announce Photo 4, of a wonderfully-creative Snow Panda by 25-year-old Jade Laforest from Happy Little Painty Faces, was the overall winner.

Miss Laforest, from Sterling Close, Kidlington, said: “It came from an absolute obsession by my youngest daughter Leila, who is two, for pandas.

“My sister Emma and my eldest daughter Mia helped me make it.

“We used facepaint for the black. Leila was kissing it and hugging it and loved it. I am really shocked to win.”

Photo 5 of Ron Gallimore sledging with his twins Hannah and Jessica was second, while Photo 1, a snow wedding cake from the Pretty Cake Company was third. Special mention must go to the snowmen created by Zoe Curran and Hayley Craske that made photos 2 and 3 respectively.

I hope that Ron Gallimore was just posing for the picture, and not risking the lives of those toddlers by really sledging down a hill like that.
