A series of unconnected power cuts affected Oxfordshire yesterday.
The biggest was in Berinsfield and Benson, with 1,600 properties cut off at 5.40am by a fault in Berinsfield. More than 1,200 homes were reconnected within three minutes but the rest did not get power back until late afternoon.
About 100 homes in Tackley lost power at 5.30am due to an equipment fault. Supplies were restored at 4.10pm.
A dozen homes at Stanton Harcourt had no electricity from 10.30am until 4.40pm after falling tree pulled down an overhead line.
And seven properties in Oxford’s Botley Road were without power after an underground cable fault at 4am in Osney. They were still cut off at 6pm.
