AN estate agent is no longer involved in discussions about taking over a closed Hook Norton pub.
Oxford-based Oliver James was in talks about The Bell.
But a spokesman – who declined to give his name – said: “We are not going to discuss anything further. We have nothing to do with that proposal.”
Owner Zoe Fawcett-Shapland has submitted a planning application for internal changes, to concerns from a number of residents.
She closed the 17th century pub after buying it and the “very recent” bar and window seats have already been removed.
The application seeks listed building consent to provide a ground and second floor flat and alterations such as new heating, courtyard roof and kitchen.
The Bourne resident Sarah Durham wrote: “This was a vibrant, lively public house, much used and supported by villagers and its closure and attempts to change the use of the building have left a significant hole in community life.”
