THE intense stare of the artist at work is unmistakable.

Ten-year-old Sophie Rawlings from Shilton was painting a heart on her mum’s face at a charity summer fete in North Leigh, near Witney.

As well as face painting there was fancy dress, a mad hat competition, a cake stall, a charity raffle, games and bric-a-brac stalls.

Sophie said: “I have enjoyed face painting my little brother Tom at home and was asked to help at the fete for Oxfordshire Mind.

“I really enjoyed meeting the people and seeing how this charity helps a lot of people.”

The fun day at the Masons Arms, in Park Road, raised money for Oxfordshire Mind.

Sophie’s mum Ann Rawlings, 44, said: “I am really proud of Sophie as she is very caring and very aware of other people’s needs and problems. Sophie is quite keen to get involved in charity work and has previously organised events for Breast Cancer research.”

Four-year-old North Leigh resident Leo Dolan took part in the clothes peg challenge and said: “I had a good time.

“Daddy says now I can help mummy put the washing out.”
