A PARADE of pink cars launched Witney’s annual Pink Day to raise about £6,500 for breast cancer research.

Hundreds of pink balloons and decorations adorned shop windows in the town centre on Saturday to fundraise for Abingdon charity Against Breast Cancer.

There was street entertainment including performances from Witchwood School of Rock, Witney Town Band, Hazzaz Belly Dancers, The Renaissance Girls, Jive Plus, Ducklington morris, The Clown Within and West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts.

Ruth Morse of the Witney-based Hazzaz Belly Dancers, said: “Good old Witney. Every year they do it so well, it was beautiful.

"Everyone takes part determined to fight breast cancer – it was a brilliant day.”

The event, organised by the Witney Action Group of Against Breast Cancer, takes place every year during National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
