BELLY dancers will join Santa Claus for a special Christmas party organised by a Witney charity for the disabled.

DITTO, which stands for ‘Doing it together to overcome’, are a group of disabled people of all ages, and their carers, who meet once a month in Langdale Hall.

The group, which has been going for 18 months, will encourage their 69 members to wear festive clothing for the event, which will include a performance by The King’s School choir.

Father Christmas will also be on hand to draw raffle prizes, donated by local businesses.

There will also be cake sales, handcraft items, book sales and an extravagant belly dancing show.

Committee member Yvonne De Burgo, of Bourton Close, said: “We usually have talks and our most recent one was the neighbourhood police telling us about keeping safe.”

Ms De Burgo, who has a spinal condition, added: “The group provides everyday things that people wouldn’t think about doing if they were on their own.

“It’s a great place to get help and make friends with other people.

“Some disabled people can feel very isolated, particularly at Christmas time.

“Our aim is to change this, have fun and socialise.”

Ditto’s Christmas party at Langdale Hall will take place on Tuesday, from 11am until 2pm and Witney residents are welcome to attend.
