Nothing Pointless about Alexander Armstrong's Bampton church reading
12:30pm Tuesday 10th December 2013 in News
TV presenter Alexander Armstrong read a spooky Christmas tale in Bampton at a concert to raise funds for a children’s charity.
The actor, comedian and compere of the hit gameshow Pointless was joined by Childline founder and fellow TV presenter Esther Rantzen to fundraise for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Saturday’s event was held at St Mary’s Church, one of the locations for the ITV hit costume drama Downton Abbey.
Mr Armstrong read a Christmas ghost story by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, while Mrs Rantzen read a poem by John Betjeman.
The evening also featured the Bampton Primary School choir and performances by 13-year-old Phoebe Rose.
The concert was sponsored by Chris Longmate, of national training provider Positive Outcomes.
