VILLAGERS in Cassington are facing the task of drying out their homes over the Christmas break after a water main burst.
The incident on Friday resulted in at least five homes in the village being flooded.
Yesterday staff from callout firm Floodcall were busy clearing carpet from affected homes.
One villager said the burst had resulted in a “torrent” of water through the village, adding: “Lots of properties were damaged and Christmas ruined for lots of properties like ours.
“At the moment, there are a lot of us who are picking up the pieces.”
Despite reports that staff from Thames Water had been down to the scene to talk to residents and assess the damage, the water company was last night unable to tell the Oxford Mail anything about the incident.
