ONE county flood warning remains in place today after Oxfordshire avoided any more severe weather last night.

Heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday night had led to road closures and flooding in several areas.

Residents are this morning still being told to expect flooding in the south-east of the county by the River Thames from Shiplake to Bolney Court, near Henley, including Lower Shiplake and Wargrave.

A flood warning that had been in place since Christmas Day for an area of small hamlets between Buscot Wick and Shifford around the Thames in West Oxfordshire has now been lifted.

The Environment Agency has also kept 11 Oxfordshire waterways - including the Thames in Oxford - on flood alerts, meaning residents and businesses should prepare for flooding.

Southern Electric yesterday said that power had finally been restored to all homes in the county affected by the flooding.

The weather outlook for today and tomorrow is mostly dry, although temperatures could fall overnight to one degree Celsius.

Although the flooding is easing, several parts of the county are still under water today.

The floods have caused problems for some, but they have made for some picturesque scenes, as Andrew Pulver's two images of the flooding taken yesterday in Binsey illustrate:
