The fire and rescue service in Oxfordshire has warned about driving in cold and icy conditions after it was called to two crashes yesterday morning.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital when a lorry collided with a car in Abingdon Road at 8.40am and two cars collided in Bladon Road, Woodstock shortly after 9am.

Road safety manager Mick Clarke said: “Driving slower allows additional room to slow down and stop. It can take ten times longer to stop on an icy road than a dry road, so it is important people drive to the conditions.”

South Central Ambulance Service was last night unable to provide details on the extent of the man’s injuries.
