AN RAF nurse who lied about his qualifications and dished out prescription antibiotics and contraception to servicemen and women has been struck off.
David Mwenitete prescribed the drugs over 40 times to patients at RAF medical centres, including at Brize Norton, as staff thought he was qualified as a Nurse Independent Prescriber.
Mwenitete had been working as a locum nurse at RAF Brize Norton from December 2010 before transferring. He was found out after a Nursing and Midwifery Council officer’s risk assessment.
He faced three allegations at the London tribunal, including that he prescribed medication when not experienced to and that he deceived staff into thinking he was qualified – both were found proved. A third allegation that he was deliberately dishonest was also found proved.
