Schools across Oxfordshire will be hit by a strike on Wednesday, March 26, it was announced yesterday.

The National Union of Teachers called the strike for England and Wales over performance-related pay, curbs on pensions and conditions.

The county branch has about 3,000 members and secretary Gawain Little said: “It is frustrating that we are having to move to strike action but I don’t feel we have any other option.”

A Department for Education spokesman said: “Parents will struggle to understand why the NUT is pressing ahead with strikes over the Government's measures to let heads pay good teachers more.”
