A NURSE who threatened to “slit the throat” of the daughter of a quadriplegic patient could be struck off if she is found guilty of misconduct.

When the daughter, referred to only as Jennifer, insisted her father needed a doctor Greta Muvuti threatened to “slit her throat”, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) heard.

Muvati had repeatedly clashed with Jennifer when she came to the Merryfield House Nursing Home in Witney, home to help care for the advanced multiple sclerosis of her father, known as Resident A.

The father wrote a letter in 2010, saying: “You threatened my daughter with death.”

The nurse denied making the threats during the incident but an NMC panel this week found two of the three parts of the allegation proved.

Muvuti was cleared of threatening to butcher Jennifer due to lack of evidence.

If she is found guilty of misconduct she could face a caution, suspension or a permanent ban from the profession.

Panel chairwoman Jane Kivlin said: “On the balance of probability the panel considered that it was more likely than not that the incident did occur as outlined.”

Gemma Kingswell, for the NMC, said: “Ms Muvuti seemed to lose her temper when Jennifer asked her over the telephone if her father needed a doctor.

“She asked Jennifer if she ‘wanted to run the show at the home’.

She also told Jennifer that she had been a nurse for 30 years and knew best.

The panel heard that Resident A, who was in his early 50s, died in 2011 four months after the incident.

The hearing will resume in April after running out of time.
