FREE computer programing workshops are being offered to primary schools across Oxfordshire.
The children are taught to program their own video games as part of the workshops by technology company ComputerXplorers.
So far pupils from Cothill House School, near Abingdon, and Bletchingdon Primary School, Bletchingdon, have taken part.
The offer is being made ahead of national programing for primaries awareness week from March 24 to 30.
Teacher Deborah Trujillo-Philippopoulos said: “We know how hard it is for teachers to find time away from school so we are offering to bring sessions into schools.
“Our programing workshop for children will have them designing their own video game.
“Our introduction to programing session for primary school teaching staff will help teachers demystify the new computing curriculum and give them hands-on programing experience.”
From September primary schools throughout the country will have to teach new computing classes.
These will focus on how to code and program after changes were brought in by the Education Secretary Michael Gove.
Schools interested in holding free workshop for teaching staff or children can email Deborah Trujillo-Philippopoulos on deborah@oxfordshire.computerxplorers.co.uk
