SCHOOLGIRL Darcey Rushton is set to appear on TV screens across the country as she makes her debut in a BBC film.

The Year 10 student from Burford School, can be seen screaming at the top of her lungs in scenes for new film The Falling.

Darcey, 14, who hopes to have a career as an actress, was picked to be an extra in the movie.

Filming took place at a disused school near Wallingford, which Darcey said was a “bit freaky”.

The Falling tells the story of Lydia, who wants to discover the cause of a mysterious fainting epidemic at her all-girls school in 1969.

She will appear alongside Oxford’s Florence Pugh, who plays Lydia’s best friend Abbie.

Lydia is played by Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.

Darcey, who lives in Carterton, is a member of drama group Young Stars in Abingdon, and said: “It was quite eerie being at the old school but it was really fun.

“I really enjoyed being part of the film and it was a good experience.

“It has only made my hope to be an actress even stronger.

“I had to be in scenes in the classroom and in the main hall.

“I can’t say too much about what happened so it doesn’t spoil it, but it was a really chaotic scene in the hall.

“I had to stand on a chair and scream at the top of my lungs which was really fun.

“The uniform we had to wear was so different to what we wear now at school. “It was a bit St Trinian’s I suppose. The skirts were really long and my hair had to be in plaits.”

She said: “I want to be an actress and this has cemented that. It was great to be a part of the film.”

The Falling is due to be shown on the BBC later this year.
