THIS little dog won’t mind being put out for the night when it has a £3,000 sensory garden to explore.
Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford near Witney is building the garden to keep dogs stimulated and happy, which, in turn, will make them easier to rehome, it says.
The pups’ playground will have sand for digging in, a herb garden full of unusual smells, and tunnels for the pooches to run through.
Centre manager Stuart Insley said: “The garden will be designed to enrich their experience while at the centre and encourage them to become more confident and engaged with their surroundings.
“In turn, the dogs will be more relaxed and will be more likely to exhibit their normal behaviour patterns, thereby increasing their rehoming prospects.”
The centre, which cares for about 25 dogs at any one time, is creating the garden with a £3,000 grant from dog food manufacturers Pedigree’s Brighter Futures fund. It provides rehoming centres with improvements grants and food.
