A body believed to be that of missing grandmother Jackie Gulliford was found in Cassington on Saturday, police said yesterday.

The 61-year-old mental health patient had not been seen for more than two months after she left her Hawthorn Road home on January 14.

Thames Valley Police said they were called to a river in the village shortly after 4.30pm by a member of the public. Police have yet to say which waterway it is.

Police spokeswoman Rhianne Pope yesterday said the body had not yet been formally identified, but said it was believed to be Mrs Gulliford.

She said Mrs Gulliford’s family had been informed and said the force wanted to thank those who helped with the search.
