War widows from across the country will today highlight their campaign for more equality in the way they are financially treated by the Government.
More than 120 members of the War Widows’ Association of Great Britain will attend its annual general meeting at the Oxford Belfry Hotel in Milton Common, near Thame.
The four-day event will see the installation of a new chairman, Irene Wills, from Plymouth.
She said: “The campaign is focused on righting a wrong.
“Not all our war widows are treated equally, with some disadvantaged because their husbands died at the ‘wrong time’.
“War widows tend to be forgotten in the aftermath of war – that is why the association is as relevant today as it was when it was first founded.”
On Sunday, some members will attend a service in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, before heading home.
