MISS Oxfordshire organisers kicked model Georgia Eden out of last night’s competition after discovering she posted this topless ‘selfie’ picture she put online to promote the fight against breast cancer.

The 22-year-old was told images, in which she is covering her breasts and was posted before she even entered Miss Oxfordshire, was contrary to the competition’s rule 3 in that it brought the event into disrepute.

The professional model, who entered Miss Oxfordshire on April 1, said she tweeted the image twice in late March with the hashtages #coppafeel (a campaign fundraising for the condition) and #breastcancerawareness after losing a close friend to the disease last year.

Miss Eden added she had been asked to support the cause by her London modelling agency Mode, with whom she has a strictly “no-topless” contract.

The Abingdon resident said: “I am quite upset by this accusation against my character, I feel demeaned. I have been made to feel cheap. The photo is implied topless – there are no nipples on show.

“This is my career, I wouldn’t have posed the photo if I thought there was anything wrong with it. I have never ever posted a topless image. I have never even gone topless on a beach.”

But yesterday organiser Beverley O’Neill said she believed Miss Eden’s pictures showed she was “not suitable” for Miss Oxfordshire, which held its final last night in Witney.

On Wednesday, Ms O’Neill emailed Miss Eden: “It has been brought to the attention of Miss England that you have previously posted semi-naked photographs on social media. This contravenes rule 3, do not bring the Miss England contest or its sponsors into disrepute.

“As a result I regret to inform you that we will be unable to accept your further participation in the event.”

Mrs O’Neill told the Oxford Mail: “This woman has got her boobies all over the place.

“She is all over social media with these pictures of herself... she wants to be a glamour model she is into all that stuff, Loaded and I don’t even know what. It is worlds apart from our contest. She may have made a mistake but you can’t be in a beauty pageant and a page three model, they are completely different worlds.

“The Miss England representative has to be someone of a certain calibre and she is not suitable.”

Miss England area organiser Diane Slater said she believed there had been full frontal images but could not provide evidence of this. Miss Eden denied this out of hand.

Ms Slater added that even Miss Eden’s ‘selfie’ image was enough though to contravene competition rules.

In the past weeks, Miss Eden and other contestants had their photos on the Miss Oxfordshire website, and the public were invited to pay £1 each to vote for the girls. Miss Eden said she had 52 votes.

Boyfriend Kieran Cochrane, 22, an Abingdon United footballer, said: “One-hundred per cent, this doesn’t make sense. She took this photo herself, to help a charity.

“She is a beautiful girl, and was doing really well as a model, so when this happened she was really annoyed and upset.”

Coppafeel is a campaign that promotes the for women to regularly check their breasts for signs of cancer.

There is absolutely nothing whatsoever "disreputable" about this young woman's conduct. Indeed she is to be congratulated for her support for the campaign to prevent breast cancer.

In the interests of fairness, we should be told which organisations sponsor the competition so that we can boycott them and their products. Such disgracefully discriminatory conduct is offensive. The same people would no doubt ban breast feeding mothers from public buildings. What bigotry!

In my opinion, she's bringing a disreputable competition into good repute. At least she's trying to do something worthwhile. I wonder if she would have been thrown out if she'd been part of one of the Jam and Jerusalem "calendars", such as those in "Calendar Girls" or the recent raising awareness calendars of the Oxford University Boat Club?

In my opinion this girl shouldn't even be allowed to enter miss Oxfordshire as she is from Portsmouth!! Besides the fact of this 'selfie' maybe they shouldn't penalise her for that but who the hell would want someone representing Oxfordshire who isn't even from there!! Well I think the young lady is stunning, naturally very beautiful and the old biddy that sacked her is a prude, and very jealous. Persecuting a young lady trying to encourage others to self examine themselves for breast cancer which is a truly devastating thing among women is the way to go.

Beverley O’Neill should feel ashamed and I do hope that Miss Eden 's career takes off for her and she goes on to enjoy massive success in the future. Sounds to me like O'Niel already had her favourite picked out and wanted somebody better removed to reduce the opposition.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. But perhaps it doesn't fit the profile of the competition. They're hardly high fashion tweets with a moral code. But equally I suppose she made most of them before entering in the competition so maybe the people running it should vet the entrants better.

You brought Portsmouth into the equation, but the article doesn't even mention it.

I haven’t time to read all previous comments, but I suggest that what this young lady does in her real life is her business, if she wants to show a ‘selfie’ in support of Breast Cancer that’s good – the photo is not offensive, rude, etc.

What is more to the point is should young ladies still be parading around in competitions like Miss Oxfordshire, Miss England, etc? These perpetuation the stereotyping of woman as ‘beauty’ objects.
