A WILLOW tree has been planted in Brize Norton to commemmorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Carterton Lions Club donated the willow, which was planted near the flood balancing pond in Minster Road at the end of March.

The group’s representatives were joined at the planting ceremony by members of Brize Norton Parish Council and pupils from Brize Norton Primary School.

The Lions’ president, Mike Lowe, said: “We were very pleased to donate this tree and we hope it will do well and be an asset to the village.”

The club has also planted trees in Alvescot, Bampton, Black Bourton, Burford and Shilton to provide lasting reminders of the Diamond Jubilee two years ago.
