A PUB in Wootton-by-Woodstock has been recognised in an awards ceremony.
The Killingworth Castle finished runner-up in the North Oxon Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Pub of the Year awards.
It is run by Claire and Jim Alexander, who took over the pub in December 2012 after it had been closed for a year.
The couple also received a runners-up award in the North Cotswolds section for The Ebrington Arms, near Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. They have previously won the award three times and have been in the top three for the past seven years.
Mrs Alexander said: “We’re really proud of the CAMRA awards because they show consistency in what we do.
“To be able to do it at our second pub so soon is overwhelming, but not without a lot of hard work in turning it around.”
Her husband added: “It’s an honour to be appreciated by the real ale community in Oxfordshire so quickly and great we can put the learnings from our first pub into another lovely community that have been really supportive.”
The Killingworth Castle won our sister paper The Oxford Times’ Restaurant of the Year last December and has also won the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
