YOUNGSTERS with learning difficulties made art, danced and acted in a creative enterprise day.

The Gig-Arts charity held the event at Witney’s Langdale Hall on Monday to boost the confidence of 30 young people from the Inclusive Care and Education (ICE) Centre in Carterton.

They made paintings in a “celebrate summer” theme and performed dance and acted on stage in front of business leaders and community groups.

The artwork will be exhibited around Witney until August, touring venues including the West Oxfordshire District Council offices in Woodgreen, Witney Library, Newland House Care Home, Madley Park House and Cottsway Housing Association.

Jill Bull, managing director of the ICE Centre, said: “The guys had a fabulous time experiencing art, music and drama all together in a great day of fun. They can’t wait to see their artworks displayed in public places.”

Abbie Cooke, co-founder of Gig-Arts, based in Shipton-under-Wychwood, said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to not only inspire the young people but to help them develop their confidence.

“Touring their artwork will be the icing on the cake and will bring joy to so many of them.”
