A VIEW of the Windrush has been a spark of inspiration for a Witney Artweeks exhibition.
Six artists took on the challenge of painting, sculpting and photographing the same view of the Windrush, which was taken from the A40 towards Burford.
Wood sculptor and turner Andrew Harrison put his tools to the test to create sculptures of the view using Oxfordshire oak.
The gallery owner and father-of-four from Carterton said: “I really enjoyed the challenge of sculpting the view of the Windrush, it is something I have never attempted before and I am really pleased with the results.
“I have used a local Oxfordshire oak, the sides of the sculpture represent the curves and slopes of the hillsides.”
Mr Harrison, 40, who served in the Army for 23 years, now runs Witney’s SOTA gallery with his wife Jennifer.
Painter Carolyn Tyrer from Harwell also took on the challenge of painting the Windrush.
She said: “It has been a lovely project to work on alongside the other artists and an exciting idea.”
You can see the exhibition at the SOTA Gallery in 9 Langdale Court, until Sunday, from 10am until 4.30pm.
