A SENIOR policeman has been appointed to oversee neighbourhood policing across the Thames Valley.

Thames Valley Police this week appointed Alan Baldwin as its new Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) for neighbourhood policing and partnerships.

He replaces ACC Richard Bennett, who has moved on to work at the College of Policing.

Mr Baldwin said: “I am looking forward to starting my new role. I am excited about being able to support the delivery of justice for victims and witnesses across Thames Valley and to be responsible for neighbourhood policing which is so important to local communities.”

Mr Baldwin joined Thames Valley Police in 2008. His previous roles have included head of tasking and resilience, and a stint as Acting Assistant Chief Constable responsible for Crime and Counter Terrorism.

In his new role, Mr Baldwin will be responsible for criminal justice and the force control rooms and enquiries department. He will also lead local policing for Buckinghamshire.

Chief Constable Sara Thornton said: “Alan is a very experienced operational leader who has a real passion to protect and serve the public.”
