VISITORS to the John Radcliffe Hospital explored the hospital’s world-class research at a special interactive exhibition on Monday.

The annual open day at the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) demonstrated the latest technology and techniques tackling conditions such as cancer, dementia, arthritis and diabetes.

Guests extracted DNA from strawberries and took part in discussions around gene sequencing at the Headington hospital.

Centre director Prof Keith Channon said: “Pioneering research led by Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford is leading to new treatments, but it relies on patients and the public supporting our work by taking part in trials and studies.

“The open day was a chance for the community to explore research and meet our talented research teams, and it was also our opportunity to say thank you for the support we get from our patients, their families, and the people of Oxfordshire.”
