MUSIC lovers of all ages flocked to Witney for the grand finalé of this year’s Witney Music Festival.

Tents and stages took over Witney’s Leys for the main day of the festival on Saturday in glorious sunshine.

Among the performers was 14-year old Tom Aries, from Madley Park, Witney, who played drums with three bands.

Tom, who attends Oxford’s Wychwood School, said: “There was some great music. It was good to see everyone out listening to local bands.

“I think people love it because it’s free and it shows off the talent in the area.

“Witney and Oxfordshire have a really good music scene, so the festival lets people see good, local bands.”

The festival was founded in 2006 by Witney resident Stuart Foster in memory of his sister, music lover Jo-Marie, who died in 2005, aged 21.

Each year the festival welcomes 150 acts with some 500 performers to take over the town for a week, drawing thousands of visitors.
