REBECCA Singleton, 14, will be the face of this year’s Eynsham Carnival after being chosen as Carnival Queen.

The Bartholomew School pupil will lead processions at the annual village event.

She will take centre stage at Eynsham’s 68th carnival alongside deputy queen Hollie Tuckey, 16 and six attendants.

Rebecca said: “I was over the moon, I really just could not believe it.

“I love the carnival so much and it’s such fun every year and being in it will be amazing.”

Thousands are expected to flock to the village event on Saturday, July 5, at Queen Elizabeth II field.

Carnival committee chairman Julie Jordan said: “It’s a big village event. Most girls in the village like to be involved and when they get chosen they are so excited.

“They all like to be little princesses for the day.”

Proceeds will be divided between the Royal British Legion, Eynsham Scouting Groups, St Leonard’s Church and the Rotary Club of Eynsham.
