Organisers of the Twin Town Challenge have revealed that more than £100,000 was raised by the charity event.

It saw 50 teams driving cars worth £500 or less travel from Witney to its twin town in France, Le Touquet.

On the way, drivers visited racetracks and completed tasks.

The final £9,000 which pushed fundraisers past the milestone was made at an auction of the cars used in the challenge.

Chief organiser Brendon Cross said: “I’m the proud owner of a Rover 216 Coupe from one of the teams now as well. I could not resist it.”

Money raised will go to SpecialEffect, based in Charlbury, which adapts video games systems for people with physical disabilities.
