MORE than 500 MG car fans turned out for a rally at Cotswold Wildlife Park near Burford on Sunday.

Cars from the 1920s up to the modern day, including four MG3s, the newest model, were on display at the 16th annual gathering of the Oxfordshire MG Owners’ Club.

MG, historically made in Abingdon, is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the marque this year.

Car owners entered a ‘pride of ownership’ competition, which had 14 age classes, and an overall car of the show contest.

Drivers took part in a 25-mile ride around the area.

There were stalls selling MG memorabilia and other goods.

The club donated a £1,000 cheque to the Heartfelt Appeal, funding the Oxford Heart Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Club secretary Jean King, from Minster Lovell, founded the club in 1996 with her husband John, who is chairman, after buying a 1972 MGB GT.

Mrs King said: “It looked fantastic with the cars together.

“They were all standing in the field and people had banners and flags up.”
